The Hausa course focus on basic level of oral fluency and aural comprehension. The aim is to acquire basic vocabulary, phrases, idiomatic expressions and grammar. The exercises comprise pronunciation, listening comprehension, answering the questions, and writing simple texts. Apart from language skills the class covers some aspects of cultural knowledge.

After completing the course included in the program, the student has a:
Knowledge:
- has a basic knowledge of the rules of communication, writing and reading in Hausa
- is aware of the complex nature of the Hausa language, its place and importance in the context of Nigerian culture and history

- interprets the cultural content in the discussed texts in Hausa
- can function properly in the linguistic and cultural environment of Nigeria

- understands the need for lifelong learning, inspiring and organizing the learning process of other people
- understands the role of the Amharic language in learning and understanding the culture of Nigeria
