The class aims at the development of writing skills according to standard orthography, listening comprehension, speaking skills at the basic level of proficiency. As far as grammar is concerned, students are able to form nonverbal and simple verbal sentences. To improve their communication skills, students acquire new vocabulary and increase fluency and accuracy through listening, forming short oral utterances, answering the questions concerning discussed issues and making dialogues that suit a given communicative situation.

Learning outcomes
After completing the course included in the program, the student has a:
Knowledge:
- has a basic knowledge of the rules of communication, writing and reading in Hausa
- is aware of the complex nature of the Hausa language, its place and importance in the context of Nigerian culture and history

- can function properly in the linguistic environment of northern Nigeria

- understands the need for lifelong learning, inspiring and organizing the learning process of other people
- can establish contacts and interact with the Hausa people
