Hebrew Language 3600-5-HE1-JH1.2
The course’s aim is to acquaint the students with the basics of modern Hebrew language. Firstly, students learn the Hebrew alphabet (both cursive and capital letters) and a vocalization system. Then, they study simple unvocalized texts and fragments of the Hebrew Bible. They learn how to use dictionaries, both of biblical and modern Hebrew. They acquire the basics of Hebrew grammar and vocabulary, mainly relating to typical situations of everyday life.
The listening comprehension is developed by listening to simple recordings.
The speaking skills are practiced mainly by constructing dialogues on subjects relating to everyday situation, and discussing selected topics.
At the end of the year the learners are able to use Hebrew in typical everyday situations.

Knowledge:

- is aware of the complex nature of Hebrew, its place and significance in the cultural and historical context of Israel K_W13

- can analyze and interpret source texts in Hebrew K_U13
- can translate easy literary texts and writings from Hebrew into Polish K_U14
- can use the script of Hebrew and the necessary tools to learn and analyze it (traditional and electronic dictionaries, lexicons, linguistic corpora, data bases, etc.) K_U16
- can properly function in the linguistic and cultural environment in Israel K_U17
- has a skill at formulating own opinions and conclusions in writing and in speech both in Polish and in Hebrew K_U22
- can use electronic and internet tools both in Polish and in Hebrew K_U24

- can cooperate and work in a group as well as forge relationships and build social relations K_K02

Written assessment after each semester (carried out by each teacher), written examination after two semester (carried out by a course coordinator).
