Reading in Chinese specialist texts 3600-19-SIW3-LTS6
During this course the work on the texts will be divided into two stages. Firstly students will get materials in English or Polish. After reading them and discussing during the class, students will receive the actual specialist text in Chinese to prepare for translation into Polish.
Thanks to these course students not only will master their translation techniques but also will learn how to do research necessary for the translation and interpretation of the text. The students will also broaden their specialized terminology concerning Chinese literature, culture , religion, history and linguistics.
If necessary this course can be realised online with usage of google tools such as google doc and meet.

K_W05 -has detailed and organized knowledge of literature and writings of China; can name and characterize most important phenomena/trends/literary texts/writings of China Taiwan and Chinese cultural circle.
K_W06 - has detailed and organized knowledge of history of China
K_W07 - has detailed and organized knowledge of philosophy and religion of China
K_W09 - has detailed and organized knowledge of socio-cultural issues in China Taiwan and Chinese cultural circle within the scope of natural environment and ethnic, demographic and political situation;
K_W11 - has organized knowledge of natural, geopolitical and economic environment and their importance for the historical and contemporary situation of China, Taiwan and Chinese cultural circle.
K_W12 - has extensive knowledge of the Chinese language (its/their structure, history, script)

Assessment criteria
Credit for a grade at the end of the semester consisting of translation a new text on a subject previously discussed during the class.
The final grade will be influenced also by mid-term tests and student's activity during the classes and preparation for the classes.
The classes are obligatory . The student can be absent without excuse two times during each semester. If excused absences exceed 30% the student will not receive a credit.

Bibliography
The selection of the materials and texts depends on interests of the students and if it is possible convergent with subjects of their diploma dissertations. After consultations texts will be sent by e-mail.
