- Confucianism - the thought of Confucius, Mencius and Xunzi; human relations e, proper governance, shaping of the correct moral attitude, upbringing, morality, the issue of human nature, Heaven, the most important texts of early Confucianism, the importance of ritual, the meaning of tradition
- Taoism - texts of early Taoism, Dao, relationship between man and the universe, "preservation of life", attitude described as "non-action" (wuwei), Taoist conception of an ideal society, discussion with Confucianism
