Knowledge
- has detailed and organized knowledge of literature and writings of China; can name and characterize most important phenomena/trends/literary texts/writings of China, Taiwan, and Chinese civilization circle (K_W05);
- has extensive knowledge of the Chinese language (its structure, history, script) (K_W12);
- is aware of the complex nature of the Chinese language, its place and significance in the cultural and historical context of China, Taiwan and Chinese civilization circle
(K_W13);
- is aware of the linguistic variety and its influence on the cultural and political situation of the world (K_W14);
- has rudimentary knowledge of translation rules from Chinese into Polish (K_W15);
- demonstrates basic grasp of contemporary cultural life of China, Taiwan and Chinese civilization circle (K_W16).

Skills
- is able to read, analyze and interpret literary texts and other works of culture (film, press, social writing) of China and Chinese civilization circle and appropriately place them in their cultural context (K_U06);
- can compare and perceive interrelations between chosen literary texts and other works of culture of China and Chinese civilization circle (film, press, social writing) and the issues within the scope of tradition and modern times (K_U07);
- is able to analyze and interpret source texts in Chinese (K_U13);
- is able to translate literary texts and writings from Chinese into Polish (K_U14);
- is able to interpret key terms from a culture of China through linguistic/philological analysis (K_U15);
- is able to use electronic and internet tools both in Polish and Chinese (K_U24).

Social competences
- is ready to act in aid of sharing and promoting cultural and linguistic heritage of China (K_K08).

Attendance obligatory. Unless they can present a doctor's note (or another valid document proving they were not able to participate in classes), students can miss no more than 4 out of every 60 hours of classes during any semester. If the sum of missed classes (including periods of the student's medical leaves or other justified absences) exceeds one-half of the total number of classes, the student may be denied credit for the course. Students are obliged to present the documents excusing them from participation in classes within 7 days after the last day of their absence.

Classroom active participation, and preparation of texts required. Students are required to hand in written translations of the texts. Fall and summer semester reports based on two mid-semester written tests (written translation into Polish of the selected known texts).
