Proseminar 3600-19-KOW2-PK(Z)
The aim of the course is to master the techniques of writing B.A. theses. During the classes students learn the basic principles of the technique of writing a thesis such as:
- subject selection,
- structure and plan of the thesis
- Introduction and summary of the thesis
- The main part of the thesis
- Stylistic issues
- exploration and use of sources,
- preparing a proper bibliography, making proper citations and references.

Learning outcomes
After completing the course student:
KNOWLEDGE:
-knows and understands the basic terms and rules of copyright and protection of intellectual property [K_W20];
-has basic knowledge of the place and importance of Korean studies in the humanities and their specificity in relation to the subject and methodology [K_W01];
-knows the state of research in chosen aspects pertaining to Korea [K_W17];
SKILLS:
-has the necessary skills to prepare seminar papers [K_U18];
-can select and find sources in a language of a chosen region in the Orient or Africa, and make references to basic theoretical approaches [K_U20];
-can search for, analyze, evaluate and use information from different sources [K_U18];
-Can use different tools to collect necessary information (traditional and electronic dictionaries, lexicons, linguistic corpora, data bases, etc.) [K_U16];
-can make notes, prepare the layout of a paper and the bibliography of the thesis, as well as make proper references [ K_U18];
-is able to prepare and present previous research on a chosen topic [K_U18];
-has a skill at formulating own opinions and conclusions in writing and in speech [K_U22];
-has the ability of substantive argumentation with the use of other authors’ views [K_U23];
-can use electronic and internet tools both in Polish and in Korean language [K_U24];
-can communicate with specialists in the fields of academic research and in academic disciplines pertinent to the Oriental studies using contemporary IT technology [K_U25];
-can acquire knowledge independently and develop research skills following the research supervisor’s instructions [K_U26];
-has a good command of a foreign language at least at the B2 level [K_U11];
-can use basic knowledge in the scope of methodology of cultural research in a seminar paper [K_U19];
-SOCIAL COMPETENCES:
- understands the need to learn all one’s life [K_K01];
- can set appropriate goals and ways to achieve them in the context of academic, professional and social activity [K_K04].
