The seminar prepares in a workshop and substantive way to write a bachelor's thesis, meet the requirements of scientific work, and the bachelor's examination.
Active participation is required from participants, including preparation of papers on selected topics in the field of classical literature, ancient and contemporary Japanese culture, or religion and philosophy of Japan.
At work, the student should demonstrate the ability to collect and analyze materials, use research apparatus, present the state of research in the field of selected topics, and the ability to synthesize. In the last stage of work, the student writes a bachelor thesis and presents its fragments at the seminar.

- has a basic knowledge of the place and importance of Japanese studies in the humanities system and its subject and methodological specificity P6S_WG

-can choose and formulate the subject of the BA thesis, select and find sources in Polish and English, refer to the basic theoretical approaches P6S_UU
-has the ability to present detailed issues in the field of cultural issues of Japan in Polish, taking into account the intellectual tradition of Japan P6S_UK
-has the ability to substantiate argumentation using the views of other P6S_UK authors
-can communicate with specialists in the field of science and scientific disciplines relevant to the field of oriental studies with the use of modern computer techniques P6S_UK
- independently acquire knowledge and develop research skills following the guidelines of the P6S_UW research supervisor

Assessment criteria
Students’ abilities to prepare a presentation on B.A. paper will be evaluated as well as the B.A. paper on the chosen topic. The structure of the work, bibliography, references, the ability to formulate theses and prove them will be taken into account.
Class attendance required (2 unexcused absences per semester)
