Proseminar 3600-19-JAW2-P4
The issues developed within the framework of the proseminar concern, among others, history of Japanese political structures, economic changes, cultural development, history of literature, poetics, historiographic traditions, religious tolerance in Japan, bushido code. Students will learn about translations of Japanese literature. Aesthetic categories and forms of traditional Japanese art are discussed, such as the tea ceremony, ikebana, and the history of Japanese painting. Also presented are topics on the Japanese language, including grammar, writing system, dialects, polite expressions, linguistic comparative studies, and topics in the history of Polish Japanology.

- knows and understands the place and importance of Oriental studies in the humanities and their specificity in relation to the subject and methodology [K_W01]
- knows the state of research in chosen aspects pertaining to Japan [K_W17],
- knows and understands the basic terms and rules of copyright and protection of intellectual property [K_W20],
- search for, analyze, evaluate and use information from different sources[K_U1],
- can compare and perceive interrelations between chosen literary texts and other works of the culture of Japan (film, press, social writing) and the issues within the scope of tradition and modern times [K_U7],
- analyze the most important phenomena/trends in art (painting, sculpture, architecture, other fields) of Japan [K_U8],
- has a good command of a foreign language at least at the B2 level [K_U11], - - can translate literary texts and writings from Japanese into Polish[K_U14],
- interpret key terms from a culture of Japan through linguistic/philological analysis [K_U15],
- fluently use the Japanese script and the necessary tools to learn and analyze it (traditional and electronic dictionaries, lexicons, linguistic corpora, databases, etc.)[K_U16],
- has the necessary skills to prepare seminar papers: can select and find sources and analyses in Japanese, knows the methodology of writing seminar papers [K_U18],
- can use basic knowledge in the scope of the methodology of cultural research in a seminar paper K_U19,
- choose and formulate a subject of a BA thesis, select and find sources in Japanese, make references to basic theoretical approaches [K_U20],
- has a skill in presenting detailed aspects within the scope of cultural issues of Japan in Polish and in Japanese taking into consideration the intellectual tradition of Japan,

- has a skill at formulating own opinions and conclusions in writing and in speech both in Polish and Japanese [K_U22],

- communicate with specialists in the fields of academic research and in academic disciplines pertinent to the Oriental Studies – Japanese Studies using contemporary IT technology [K_U25],
