The purpose of the course is to introduce students to everyday, colloquial Japanese, show social variety of language and levels of politeness. The course shall help with the practice of grammatical forms that are taught during other language courses, gaining fluency in Japanese through composing statements useful in everyday life situations.

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course the student:
has rudimentary knowledge of translation rules from Japanese into Polish (K_W15);
can use the knowledge of socio-cultural issues of Japan in typical professional situations (K_U09);
interpret key terms from Japanese culture through linguistic/philological analysis (K_U15);
fluently use the Japanese script and the necessary tools to learn and analyze it (traditional and electronic dictionaries, lexicons, linguistic corpora, data bases, etc.) (K_U16);
properly function in the linguistic and cultural environment of Japan (K_U17);
has a skill at formulating own opinions and conclusions in writing and in speech both in Polish and Japanese (K_U22);
use electronic and internet tools both in Polish and Japanese (K_U24);
understands the need to learn all one’s life (K_K01);
cooperate and work in a group as well as forge relationships and build social relations (K_K02);
establish relations and cooperate with representatives of other cultures (K_K03);
make others aware of the cultural distinctness and its religious, philosophical, traditional and historical roots and its significance for understanding modern world (K_K05);
sees the need of dialogue between cultures (K_K06);
is aware of significance the Japanese culture has for the culture of the world (K_K07);
acts in aid of sharing and promoting cultural and linguistic heritage of Japan (K_K08)
