Qualitative organisational research. A case of Institute of Sociology at University of Warsaw 3502-FAKL61-LIC
During this workshop students will get to know basic concepts from sociology of organization and they will learn, how to conduct qualitative research. Using the Institute of Sociology as a place, where the fieldwork will be conducted, we will practice qualitative research techniques (observation, interview, desk research). We will also address questions about structure of organization, power in organization, organizational culture, communication, formal and informal rules. In order to do so, we will seek for events, processes or themes that will allow us to get insight into organisational life: such as unsuccessful attempt to install monitoring or rules on plagiarism and staff and student practices.
