Philosophical Systems of the Middle and Far East 3501-SFBDW20-M
The lecture is devoted to the discussion of the most important philosophical systems and doctrines of the Middle and Far East. Particular attention will be focused on their relationship with religion. The most important issues raised in philosophical systems will be discussed: cosmogony, cosmology, deity and its character and relation to the created world. In the individual blocks ontological, metaphysical and epistemological problems will be elaborated. In first two lectures the beginnings of philosophical and religious thinking in the Ancient East will be presented. The following blocks Indian philosophy, Buddhist philosophy, Japanese philosophy, Chinese philosophy, Jewish philosophy, Muslim philosophy and contemporary Persian thought will be analysied.

Acquired knowledge:
has comprehensive knowledge and a thorough understanding of the role of philosophical reflection in shaping culture;
has extended knowledge of the place and significance of philosophy in relation to the sciences, and of the subject and methodological specificity of philosophy;
knows at an advanced level philosophical terminology in Polish in a selected philosophical subdiscipline
knows the philosophical terminology for oriental philosophies;
has systematic knowledge and understanding of the main directions of basic philosophical subdisciplines and understands the relationship between these directions;
has knowledge of the relationship between the formation of philosophical ideas in oriental cultures and changes in culture and society; understands the fundamental role that philosophical ideas play in the creation of cultural works and institutions;
Acquired skills:
knows the most important philosophical systems of the Middle and Far East;
can explain the circumstances of their formation and relationships with religious and social life;
understands the specifics of Oriental philosophical systems and is able to indicate their relationship with contemporary political and social life in this area;
Social competences acquired:
knows the scope of his knowledge and skills, understands the need for continuous training and professional development;
recognizes and formulates ethical problems related to other cultures, is able and demonstrates activity in solving these problems;
participates in social and cultural life, is interested in innovative philosophical concepts of other cultures, in relation to other parts of cultural and social life, tries to use them as a value for Western culture;
actively participates in behavioral activities; the philosophical heritage of all cultures and their use in understanding social and cultural events;
can interact and work in a group, taking on various roles in it.
