Applied Psychology 3402-30PSS
The aim of the course is to let students acquire the knowledge on some contemporary applications of psychology and the skills of combining psychological theories with practice. The course involves the following issues: domains of the psychology application - psychological vocational specializations; developmental and educational psychology: development of a child vs. educational models; psychological and social effects of the application of various educational styles; psychology of health and quality of life: the role of psychological factors in pathogenetic process and health care; stress and stress management; psychological and social determinants of health. Psychology of organizations and management: psychological backgrounds of the effectiveness in organization; motivation to work and work satisfaction; human management: leadership and participation; team work - processes in teams. Psychology of economic behaviours and psychology of advertisement; psychology vs. law: witness credibility; psychological determinants of delinquency; psychological aspects of social pathology and counter prevention: alcohol and drug addiction with models of addiction therapies; pathology of family life - domestic violence; clinical psychology: psychic norm and pathology: kinds of psychic deviances; domains of clinical psychology application; main theoretical approaches to psychotherapy.
