Sociology of Work 3402-20SCPZ
The aim of the course is to present the students with different theoretical approaches used in the work research done by sociologists. There are discussed classic approaches: Marks, Weber, Durkheim and the contemporary theoretical approaches (system theory, conflict theory, new institutionalism, interactionism, neomarxism, postmodernism). With the examples of particular research there are presented differences in the approaches - regarding the subject of the research and the interpretation of the outcome. Detailed issues regard such cases as: attitudes towards work, alienation, conflict and control in work, the influence of technology and automatization. There are also included changes on the labor market in the industrial and postindustrial societies, as well as the analysis of historically created forms of work organizations, individual and collective work relationships and types of contracts.
