Contemporary trends in marriage and the family 3402-10WMRZ
The aim of the course is to present students with the contemporary discourses on the marriage and family in the outcome of the social sciences. In the centre of discussion there are issues of the integral model of the contemporary family. There are analyzed, among others, such issues as: family as a subject of social transitions, the roles of marriage and family in private and public spheres in the postmodern society, social construction of the alternative definitions of family-marriage forms of life, social and intimate dimensions of the marriage and cohabitant relationships, patterns of interaction and the types of bonds among partners in formal and informal relationships, identity and the constructs of male and female roles in the heterogenic postmodern family, socio cultural aspects of motherhood and parenthood in the contemporary society, basic dimensions of the analysis of the process of upbringing in a family, quality of childhood in a family, macro and micro structural basis (sources and effects) of the disintegration of a family in Poland and worldwide. There are also discussed theoretical and methodological contexts of the family research.
