The following topics will be discussed in the course:
1. Historical-cultural-geographical sketch of Portugal - outlining the context;
2. history of Portuguese art - the most interesting phenomena, styles and currents;
3. literary sketch: profiles of major authors; social problems and national myths in Portuguese literature;
Translation of Portuguese literature into Polish; 5.
5. Polish-Portuguese relations,
6. Portuguese studies - disciplines, fields, methodologies;
7. Research in Poland.

Assessment criteria
Activity in class, reviewing and discussing the recommended texts in class. Students may have 2 absences from class. Preparation and presentation of two 10-minute presentations: 1. presentation of a theoretical text - thesis, research problems, bibliography; 2. critical reading of a selected literary work with reference to a scientific bibliography
Practical placement
Schools, translation agencies, dipolomatic posts of he Portuguese speaking countries.
