Prose, cinema and theatre in Spain in XX and XXI century 3305-PKTKH-SEM-LIC
The aim of the seminar is primarily to prepare students to write a bachelor thesis based on the selection of texts in the field of literature, cinema and theater, or audiovisual in contemporary Spain. The first stage consists in clarifying the topics, chapter titles, subchapters, etc. Next, a careful and critical reading of the outlines, and preferably working versions of the fragments of work, collecting bibliography and other materials necessary to edit the texts at the end of the year. We will analyze literary texts (prose, film, theater, series) through contemporary cultural and sociocultural theories. The topics proposed to students focus on issues: identity and uprooting, intertextuality, literary metafiction, genre / genre hybrid, postmodernism, historical memory, genre cinema, author's cinema, theater and drama, post-dramatic theater, TV series, literature adaptations in the cinema.
Topics are chosen freely and according to the interests of students.

Learning outcomes
Students will acquire a rudimentary knowledge of the spanish literature, theatre and cinema in the XX and XXI century and will be able to place them within a wider literary and cultural context, as well as to subject them to comparative analysis. K_W01, K_W02, K_W03, K_W04, K_W05, K_W09
Skills:
Students will be able to prepare an original dissertation. They will develop basic research skills embracing the formulation and analysis of investigative issues, choice of method and analytical tools, and elaboration and presentation of their research results in the field of literary or cultural studies.
Students will be capable of employing academic disourse. They will select, analyse and evaluate information, including the opinions of other authors, as well as apply appropriate argumentation. Analyses of literary works and interpretations of other cultural texts will be carried out in full awareness of their multidimensional character. Social skills:
Students will acquire the ability to listen carefully to other participants, and to take an active part in discussion themselves. They will also be able to select and organize information, and to systematize and critically assess the knowledge they acquire. K_K01, K_K03
Assessment criteria
The pass mark for the seminar is active and systematic student participation in classes, in discussions on theoretical and literary texts being analyzed.
After the first semester students have to complete: work plan, outline, bibliography and theoretical and methodological assumptions.
After the second semester, the student should present the completed BA thesis and take the final exam.
