The course aims to introduce students to the latest research trends in the history, culture and religion of medieval and early modern Spain. During the course, students deepen their knowledge of the cultural phenomena and religious and intellectual movements characteristic of particular periods, the factors determining their specific nature in Spain, and learn about the figures and views of representatives of the movements discussed.
The course covers the following topics:

3. The intercultural nature of the Toledo School of Translators
4. The Inquisition and the reforms of Cardinal Cisneros
5. Lullism in Spain
6. Juan Luis Vives and humanist pedagogy

The student is familiar with and understands
the subject-specific and methodological characteristics of their field of study, which they are able to develop creatively and apply in their professional practice, terminology in the field of study at an advanced level the links between Iberian philology and other fields of the humanities and social sciences basic concepts and principles relating to the protection of intellectual property and copyright, as well as the necessity of managing intellectual property resources scientific and cultural phenomena in Spain, and, in particular, has in-depth knowledge of the links between new research and trends in the field of study and other humanities discourses terminology, theory and methodology in the fields of science and academic disciplines relevant to Iberian studies; contemporary achievements of research centres and schools, covering selected areas of scientific fields and disciplines relevant to Iberian studies

The student is able to
apply the research skills acquired, including the critical analysis of cultural products and social phenomena in Spain, the synthesis of various ideas and viewpoints, the selection of methods and the development of research tools, and the compilation and presentation of results, enabling them to find original solutions to complex problems within the fields of science and academic disciplines, relevant to Iberian studies; to independently acquire knowledge in their field of study and expand their research skills; and to undertake autonomous activities aimed at developing their abilities and managing their own professional career; to apply acquired language skills in understanding and producing oral and written texts using specialist terminology

Assessment criteria
Some of the course content is delivered through a lecture accompanied by slides and audiovisual materials, whilst other parts take the form of discussions based on selected readings.
The requirements for passing the course are regular attendance (two absences are permitted; if the permitted number of absences is exceeded, additional written assignments will be required), active participation and the preparation of a project – a 15-minute presentation and at least three questions from the audience (40% of the note) as well as passing a written test (60% of the note).
The use of AI tools is permitted for the preparation of class assignments, but this must be described/cited. The student is responsible for the generated content. Where AI tools are used, the general guidelines of the University of Warsaw apply.
