This course, dedicated to the analysis of several literary texts representative of the recent Latin American narrative, is given IN POLISH.

The aim of the course is to provide students with a panorama of the latest Latin American literature (late 20th and early 21st century). We will discuss prose texts of writers from various countries of the region, thanks to which its diversity will be shown. |

Learning outcomes
At the end of the semester the student knows basic methods of analyzing Spanish-language literary works in Polish translations, i.e. has basic knowledge of Latin American literature at the end of the XXth and the begeninig of the XXIst century and its specificity as a discipline (K_W02); basic terminology, subject and fields of research covering the Latin American literature at the end of the XXth and the begeninig of the XXIst century (K_W03); the history of Latin American literature at the end of the XXth and the begeninig of the XXIst century (trends, currents of a given periods, main authors and their work) (K_W04); the basics of the connections between the Latin American literature of the period with the historical and cultural processes occurring on the continent at that time (K_W05). Moreover, the student knows how to read and understand the Spanish language texts in Polish translations (K_U01); present their views, opinions, discuss the Latin American literature from the period (K_U02); identify different types of Spanish-language texts representative for the Latin American literature from the period, place them in a general historical and cultural context, and analyze them using basic terminology and appropriate methods (K_U03); independently acquire knowledge of the Latin American literature from the period (using dictionaries, lexicons, encyclopedias, source texts, monographic studies, etc.) (K_U04); write a short essay about the Latin American literature from the period (K_U05); prepare a short oral presentations on the same subject (K_U06); use basic theoretical approaches, research paradigms and concepts specific to the literary studies of the Latin American literature from the period (K_U07). The student is also capable of critical assessment of their own knowledge and skills and understands the need for continuous improvement and development (K_K01); planning and organizing work, developing their entrepreneurship, team collaboration and compliance with professional ethics (K_K02); active participation in the Latin American culture using various forms and media and to work both in a team performing various roles and in an autonomous manner (K_K03); keeping informed about contemporary processes and phenomena occurring in the Latin American culture (K_K04).
Assessment criteria
The student is expected to:
- come to class (2 unexcused absences posible);
- read the texts;
- participate in discussions;
- pass the final exam (written).
