The seminar will cover the history of Spain, from the Spanish Civil War of 1936–1939 to the present.
The topic will be presented chronologically and thematically.
The seminar will utilize source materials, historical studies, as well as fiction and films.

Learning outcomes
The student knows and understands the terminology, subject matter, and aspects of research on the history of Spain in the 20th and early 21st centuries; the most important events and processes in the field of Spanish history and significant aspects of Spanish culture during this period.
The student is able to understand texts on topics related to Spanish activity and culture; to make own comments, discussions, and present findings on issues related to the control of Spain; to consider various physical properties, place them in relation to history and culture, and apply them using the specific terminology of historical sciences; to study history.Independently acquire knowledge and develop skills using appropriate sources and historical studies (source texts, monographs, etc.); write and edit a written paper using appropriate methods in the field of historical studies; prepare oral presentations using appropriate methods, including methodologies in the field of historical studies and appropriate sources; use basic theoretical approaches, research paradigms, and concepts appropriate to the study of history. The student is ready to critically evaluate their own knowledge and skills and understands the need for continuous improvement and development; planning and organizing work, developing their entrepreneurial spirit, cooperating in a team, and adhering to the principles of professional ethics; actively participating in Spanish culture using various forms and media, and working both in a team, fulfilling various roles, and autonomously; tracking contemporary processes and phenomena occurring in Spanish culture and historiography.
Assessment criteria
The final grade for the course is composed of three partial grades:
An assessment of the student's presentation.
An assessment of activity during classes.
At the end of the semester, students will be required to complete a written exam (approximately 15 questions). The results of this exam will form the basis of the final grade.
Attendance is mandatory. Two unexcused absences are permitted.
An oral exam is also available. The terms for this alternative assessment will be discussed individually with interested students.
