Phonetics of Portuguese 3305-FPE-11
The topics of the classes are devoted to the following issues:
1. Phonetics and phonology.
1.1. Types of phonetics.
2. The speech apparatus, phonation organs, the phenomenon of phonation.
3. Vowels, oral and nasal diphthongs and triphthongs, gaps.
4. Consonants and allophones.
5. Double characters.
6. Assimilations and word-linking.
7. Phonetic and phonemic transcription.
8. The rules of stressing words, main and secondary stress.
9. The syllabic division and the rules for carrying words to the next verse.

Learning outcomes
K_W02 - basic terminology of the humanities within the disciplines in which the studies are conducted, as well as its sources and applications.
K_W03 - research methodology in the disciplines in which the studies are conducted.
K_W04 - the position of the studies of the Portuguese language countries within the humanities system and their subject and methodological connections with other scientific disciplines.
K_W06 - phenomena in the field of history, literature history and culture of the Portuguese language countries.
K_U03 - apply basic research skills, including formulation and analysis of research problems, selection of research methods and tools, development and presentation of results in the disciplines in which the studies are conducted.
K_K02 - Broadening their knowledge and language skills in the Portuguese language, continuous professional training and personal development, self-assessment of their own competences and skills improvement.
Assessment criteria
Completion of the course is based on a positive grade for the final exam. The grade obtained in the exam is tantamount to the final grade. The grading scale is as follows:
• 0-69% – 2,0
• 70-74% – 3,0
• 75-79% – 3,5
• 80-84% – 4,0
• 85-89% – 4,5
• 90-100% – 5,0
