Spanish Literature Studies: text and context I 3305-BLH1-1U
[EN]: “Spanish Literature Studies: Text and Context I" focuses on the most relevant trends in contemporary Spanish literature and culture, especially on those that started taking place in the last decade. The course addresses some of the most recent themes and concerns within contemporary culture. It also considers the context in which these works have been produced: on one hand, it examines how the conditions of artistic production influence the creation of these texts; on the other, it explores how the texts contribute to the articulation of the cultural and material conditions that define the present.
The teaching method combines theoretical explanations of the dominant trends in contemporary Spanish literature and culture with the reading and discussion of texts that exemplify these trends. The required readings are mostly novels, but theoretical texts, films, and TV series will also be discussed in class.
