History of the French Literature of the 17th century - lecture 3304-3HLF30KZ
The lectures and seminar classes are conducted in French.
The lecture aims to outline the major currents and phenomena characteristic of French literature of the period discussed: the Baroque, Classicism, Carthesianism, préciosité and burlesque and the most important information on poetry, drama and prose of the seventeenth century.
Seminar class will be entitled, as follows:
1/ Understand human nature: analysis of selected French writings of Baroque and Classicism;
2/ Variety of forms and genres in the French literature of seventeenth century.
Student will chose one of the above two.

Learning outcomes
Upon completing the whole course (lectures and seminar classes), students should: 1. know the chronology of the period and key dates, 2. know the concepts discussed and texts read, 3. know how to link various literary phenomena, 4. know how to draw a parallel between authors and texts, 5. independently carry out an analysis of a literary text.
Assessment criteria
tests on the readings assigned, a final test summing up the material covered during the classes and lectures, written work
