The relationship between literature and art in 19th-20th century France. 3304-2DXW-WM-ZLISWF
The lecture will focus on revealing some of the most important moments in the history of the relationship between literature and the fine arts in 19th and 20th century France. After discussing, by way of a theoretical introduction, the basic theories defining the relationship between literature and the fine arts (Horace, Lessing), we will move on to an analysis of specific examples of this relationship, which will show how trends in the arts such as Romanticism, Realism, Impressionism, Pre-Raphaelitism, Cubism, Futurism or Surrealism played an important role in the development of literature (subject matter, form). It will also be an opportunity to present artists - painters and writers - who have played a special role in building a dialogue between word and image, and to take a closer look at selected paintings.
