The Reformation and the religious wars began to disrupt the unified reading of Scripture. Another breakthrough was marked by John Milton's poem "Paradise Lost." Its translations and reinterpretations marked 18th-century poetry, including French poetry. How has the beginning of Genesis (Genesis 1-11), which enshrines the DNA of much of our tradition (from the creation of the world to the disintegration of a unified culture around the Tower of Babel: from construction to destruction), been utilized by artists from various (and pivotal) eras in European and world history? What does this inspiration mean for literature and for the ethical self-awareness of its audiences?

After completing the monographic lecture, students
- have an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the place and significance of the humanities, in particular literary studies, in the system of sciences, as well as their subject-specific and methodological characteristics, general and specific terminology in the field of French and French-language literature in terms of biblical paraphrases between the 17th and 21st centuries and the processes taking place in them, research trends, directions, and methodologies in the above-mentioned time period, issues in the field of general literary studies, and the principles of analysis and interpretation of texts belonging to various genres of narrative and poetry from these centuries (K_W01, K_W02, K_W03, K_W04, K_W05, K_W06, K_W09);
- is able to independently acquire knowledge and plan their own learning, guide others in this area, and develop complex skills using various sources, as well as recognize, analyze in depth, and interpret various types of cultural products (painting, graphic art, literature), using appropriate and complex terminology and appropriate research methods and techniques (K_U03, K_U05)
- is ready to be open to individual and cultural differences and to understand their ethical dimension in a biblical context (K_K03)
