Master’s Seminar II: Modern Approaches to Foreign Language Learning. Where Do Language Teaching Pathways Lead? 3304-2D2W-SM-032

In the second year of the master’s program, the coursework focuses exclusively on the topics that will be the subject of the master’s theses. Students present excerpts from their theses, discuss the challenges associated with them, and share their preliminary and final conclusions.

With regard to the use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in the preparation of the thesis, the rules set forth in Resolution No. 42 of the Teaching Council for the Romanic Philology program, dated April 15, 2024, apply.

Prerequisites (description)

(in Polish) Jest to kontynuacja (drugi rok) seminarium magisterskiego z zakresu dydaktyki języków obcych (języka francuskiego), którego celem jest przygotowanie i obrona pracy magisterskiej.

Learning outcomes

- The student is able to plan, conduct, and discuss a study on a selected topic in the field of foreign language teaching (French), including:
- defining the research topic and its objective(s) and explaining the principles of sample selection;
- formulating research questions;
- select the appropriate research method and technique (or methods and techniques);
- conduct the planned research;
- discuss the findings, distinguishing between the presentation of results and their interpretation;
- present general conclusions and their potential practical implications.
- The student is able to prepare a master’s thesis in French, including conducting a literature review on the thesis topic, discussing the conducted research in detail, and formulating conclusions, while adhering to the guidelines for preparing master’s theses applicable to the program and respecting copyright and intellectual property laws.

Assessment criteria

Submission of the master's thesis is a requirement for passing the course during the summer semester.
