Curriculum: Translation exercises and improvement of language skills through translation from Polish into French of press texts and documents related to corporate life, economy, finance, banking, business, stock market, judiciary, etc. The selection of texts and documents for translation is constantly changing. Current newspaper articles and authentic documents are used.
Pass criteria: on the basis of regular attendance and activity in class, two test papers, review exercises at the end of each section and a credit translation at the end of the semester.
Learning objectives: ability to use specialized dictionaries and terminology databases to find vocabulary for translation and create glossaries in a given subject area; ability to use specialized vocabulary; ability to translate economic terms correctly, taking into account different contexts in Poland and France; ability to translate an economic text from Polish into French; practical application of the rules of French grammar in translation. Choice of translation strategy and ability to justify it.
In the second semester, interpreting. General and specialized vocabulary. Exercises on fluency and coherence of speech fr/pl,, translation with notation, leading to consecutive translation of a speech of about 2.5 minutes. Vocabulary enrichment, memory training.
