Master seminar - Discourse Analysis and Problems of Translation 3304-2D1W-SM-004
The methodological basis of the seminar will be proposals of French-language discourse researchers (such as Dominique Maingueneau, Patrick Charaudeau, Laurence Rosier, Christian Plantin and others) that will provide tools for analyzing statements belonging to different genres, such as press releases, popularizing and scientific texts, literary texts.
Suggested topics: emotions in discourse, strategies of building one's own image by the speaker, circulation of quotations and formulas in the public message, argumentative dimension of speech; other topics can be formulated depending on the interests of students.
The participant of the seminar can also write a master's thesis on translation problems related to, for example, cultural factors, reported speech, markers of subjectivity, retranslation etc.
