TRAD: Translation into Polish. Translation of legal texts 3304-2D1O-TRJP-TPR
This course is practical in nature and involves completing written translations from French to Polish—focusing on legal texts—either independently or in small groups. This allows students to hone their translation skills and apply theoretical knowledge regarding translation strategies and techniques, types of translation errors, and the translation of culturally specific elements in a specialized context. The course addresses issues of linguistic correctness, stylistics, and the culture of the Polish language, as well as elements of lexicographic analysis. The curriculum includes various types of legal and specialized texts related to the operations of public institutions, including judgments of the Court of Justice of the European Union and the European Court of Human Rights. As part of the course, students will also acquire skills in using CAT (computer-assisted translation) software.

Assessment criteria
The course concludes with a graded assessment.
The following are evaluated:
- class participation and preparation (collaborative work on translating texts, and preparation of short group or individual homework assignments);
- a written assignment in the form of an independent translation of a longer text provided at the beginning of the semester.
