Translation and Contrastive Research 3304-2D1O-TRBK-OG
The aim of the lecture is to show the basic aspects of the work of an interpreter who tries to reflect the sense of the starting text, taking into account the new situation of speaking, in which it will be read as a text of translation.
On the one hand, the translator must obey language, stylistic and aesthetic rules, on the other hand, he uses his creativity, thanks to which he can pass as the second author. We will look at the translation by emphasizing the role of linguistic phenomena in written, literary and press texts. We will take into account both the role of grammatical differences and similarities between French and Polish as well as phenomena from the level of discourse.
A variety of translation solutions for a given output text will be presented in the translation series.
The lecture is to facilitate the recognition of translation problems and the selection of appropriate translation techniques, as well as to encourage creative editing of the best possible target text.
Having discussed the basic concepts of the translation process and translation stages (translation, non-transferability, equivalence, translation accuracy, translation strategy, translation technique, recipient-oriented translation, foreign language translation, etc.), we will show different aspects of the translator's practice in the texts:
- proper names
- names of realities
- text coherence mechanisms
- colloquial statements
- phenomena related to the cited speech, and thus based on polyphony of utterances, connecting with the detached speaker - or taking responsibility - for the content being conveyed.
