Upon completion of the course, the student:
- has systematized morphosyntactic, orthographic, semantic, phonological and stylistic knowledge of French K_W10
- knows the basic principles of analysis and interpretation of texts belonging to different functional styles of French and other Romance languages K_W11
- has knowledge of the culture of France and French-speaking countries K_W12
- has the ability to substantively argue with the use of other authors' views and formulate conclusions K_U06
- is able to communicate using various communication channels and techniques with specialists in the field of Romance philology in Polish and French K_U07
- has the ability to prepare oral presentations in French and Polish, presenting specific issues, using various sources and basic theoretical approaches K_U09
- has active and passive linguistic competence in French at the C1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, both spoken and written K_U10
- is able to correctly translate terms belonging to selected specialized varieties of French K_U11

- has in-depth research skills, including the analysis of the works of other authors, synthesis of various ideas and views, selection of methods and construction of research tools, development and presentation of results allowing original solutions to complex problems to the extent necessary for participation in scientific discussion and preparation of own scientific papers
- is able to carry out a critical analysis and interpretation of various cultural products (language, literature, art) using original and new methods to determine their meanings, social impact, place in the historical-cultural process
- has the ability to substantively argue using his own views and those of other authors, formulate conclusions and create synthetic summaries

Canadian Studies Students:
Upon completion of the course, the student knows and understands:
- at an extended level morphosyntactic, orthographic, semantic, phonological and stylistic issues in French (K_W08)
Students are able to:
- use the acquired linguistic skills in understanding and producing oral and written texts using specialized terminology (K_U05)
- apply in their own research work the conclusions drawn from the analysis of literary texts and scientific texts in the field of Canadian literary studies to a deeper degree (K_U06)
- argue in French using one's own views and those of other authors (K_U08);
- prepare oral presentations, including those with a complex structure, using various sources and theoretical approaches (K_U13);
- use French at the level of C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (K_U14).
The student is ready to:
- cooperate in a group, solve problems in discussion and initiate solutions appropriate to the situation (K_K10)
Assessment criteria
The basis for credit is:
- obtaining a passing grade on the scheduled 2 examinations held during the course,
- preparation of a short speech on an established topic and initiation of discussion;
- independent work in preparation for classes (reading texts and listening to recordings);
- active participation in class.
