The course prepares students to develop and deliver
presentations in French on topics related to the language and culture of France
and French-speaking countries. Each session will focus on a different
aspect of contemporary French-speaking countries (schooling and education,
geography and tourism, art, literary life, major social events, current
political issues, …). Using audio and video materials as well as current
newspaper articles, students will improve their oral expression while simultaneously
expanding and refining their vocabulary and reinforcing selected grammatical concepts.

The student knows and understands:

lexical, semantic, phonological, and stylistic issues in the French language

culture and history of French-speaking countries

The student is prepared to:
K_K01 - critically evaluate their own knowledge and skills
K_K02 - be open to individual and cultural differences
K_K05 - actively participate in French and Francophone culture, using
various forms and media
K_K10 - collaborate in a group, solve problems through discussion, and initiate
solutions appropriate to the situation.
Assessment criteria
- Attendance and active participation in class, including taking part in interactions and discussions
(students who do not speak up will be considered absent)
- Preparation of shorter (current events) and longer (presentations) oral presentations
- Positive grades on presentations, quizzes, and
homework assignments.
