Practical learning of French - Translation 3304-2D1O-PNJFT-049
The classes are aimed at first-year stage 2 students and last for two semesters. They consist in translating - from
Polish into French - of short press texts, literary, applied, advertising
etc. - by following a certain process (from the first viewing of the text to the finished translation).
Emphasis is placed on semantic equivalence, cohesion and coherence, proper selection of strategies
translation, syntactic and grammatical correctness in the target language, as well as the
recognizing and ways of translating culturalisms. For this purpose, among other things, periphrasis is practiced,
explication and explicitation. In order to achieve proper implementation of the process, students are familiarized with
also with methods of finding adequate vocabulary (in different registers), terminology, with
particular emphasis on interword connections in French. The selection of texts for
translation and working on them broadens general knowledge, knowledge of both languages and cultures, and develops
