Literary Studies Course IIz/IIIz+p: Jealousy and Betrayal in 17th- and 18th-Century French Literature 3304-1DZXW-KL-013
The aim of this seminar is to introduce students to selected works from the Baroque, Classical and Enlightenment periods, analysed through the lens of the place and role of jealousy and betrayal. We will examine the links between feelings and actions, analyse how strong emotions were portrayed in past eras, and reflect on the literary merits of the works under discussion. Each text will be discussed within the cultural and historical context of its era. The programme will include works by well-known authors (e.g. Racine, Madame de Lafayette, Marivaux and Prévost) and lesser-known ones (Catherine Bernard).
The primary aim of the course is to prepare students to interpret literary texts independently within their historical context.

Po zaliczeniu konwersatorium student:
- zna i rozumie: omawiane teksty literackie XVII/XVIII wieku i metodologię badań literaturoznawczych, zna i rozumie omawiane pojęcia, które analizuje w szerokim kontekście nauk humanistycznych (K_W01, K_W04, K_W05, K_W09, K_W10, K_W12)
- potrafi: zanalizować tekst literacki odwołując się do poznanych ujęć literaturoznawczych, zredagować pracę poświęconą zadanemu zagadnieniu, posługiwać się językiem francuskim w mowie i w piśmie na odpowiednim poziomie i stosować uzyskaną wiedzę w podejmowanej aktywności zawodowej (K_U05, K_U06, K_U07, K_U08, K_U12)
- jest gotów do dbałości o francuskie dziedzictwo kulturowe i do przestrzegania podstawowych zasad etyki zawodowej oraz zasad z zakresu ochrony własności intelektualnej i prawa autorskiego (K_K04, K_K06)
student powinien: 1. znać twórczość omawianych autorów, 2. umieć zanalizować różne aspekty zazdrości i zdrady obecne w omawianych utworach 3. umieć samodzielnie zanalizować tekst literacki.
Assessment criteria
Methods: group work, guided discussion, elements of the lecture
Participation in discussions, written work completed in class, 2 tests (open-ended and multiple-choice questions)
Attendance is compulsory (3 absences are permitted; any further absences may result in additional work being set)
