Conversatory of Literature: Letters in novels and novels in letters (17th-18th centuries) 3304-1DZXW-KL-007
The novel in its evolution integrates the social and cultural changes of West Europe in 17th and 18th centuries. In all this forms from the novel with letters to epistolary novel, this specific support of information, the letter reflects the sentimental relations, influence on the action and proves the dilemma of hero’s conscious.
What others consequences can we observe with this use of the letter? A few answers we will find in works of French novel writers in 17th and 18th centuries.

Learning outcomes
After the course student should:
1 demonstrate a knowledge of the issues related to the topic of the seminar
2 have the ability to analyze source materials
3 demonstrate the ability to present specific issues and animate discussions in the seminar group
4 be able to confront different interpretations verbally and in writing
5 present in a synthetic form a selected issue of the seminar program
Assessment criteria
Pass conditions: active presence (participation in the discussion on the basis of knowledge of the assigned texts), exposé 10 min. on the topic selected from the questionnaire. Written work in the classroom (mid-semester) and the final test (15 min) allow the oral exam (reading list and issues given at the beginning of the semester).
More than two unexcused absences (not counting the first classes), the student is struck off the list of students.
