The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the history and culture of France in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries through the prism of their attitude to love, body and eroticism.

1) A brief history of the attitude towards love in the previous ages
2) The eighteenth century - the century of libertinism?

3) The nineteenth century - the (no) romantic century
a) The Napoleonic Code and its consequences

K_W02 - student knows the terminology of the humanities at an extended level,
and particularly of philology
K_W11 - student knows the detailed rules of analysis and interpretation of texts belonging to different functional styles of the French language
K_W15 - student knows and understands the concepts and principles of intellectual property and copyright protection, in particular the rules governing the quotation of someone else's statements
K_K01 - student performs regular self-reflection, thanks to which s/he is aware of the level of his knowledge and skills;
K_K05 - student is able to properly define the priorities for the implementation of the tasks set by him/herself and others
K_K09 - student is interested in contemporary processes and phenomena occurring in the cultural life of Europe
Assessment criteria
The final mark consists of your attendance (only two absences without the obligation to pass absences during the duty hours), activity ( (1/4 grade), presentation (1/4 grade) and final test (1/2 grade).
