Bachelor's Seminar: Journey to Creole. Space in the French-language literature of the Indian Ocean islands (20th-21st centuries) 3304-1DZ3O-SL-20
How is Creolia to Lemuria? Where to look for the Indiaoceania that gave rise to Indianoceanism?
Against the background of the diverse history of Madagascar and the Mascarnees (Mauritius, Réunion and Rodrigues), islands located east of Madagascar, we will reconstruct the literary symbolic space that guests from near and far have inhabited with their myths, dreams and fights (because indigenous people - endemites there are probably only - some - animals and plants). In creating this space, he marks his poetic participation, among others Hailing from Mauritius, 2008 Nobel Laureate for Literature, Jean-Marie-Gustave Le Clézio.
There will be calls to traditional cultures (religion, customs, dance, language, literary genres) as well as to multicultural or intercultural phenomena.

Learning outcomes
After completing the bachelor's seminar, the student:
- knows and understands at an advanced level the place and importance of the humanities, in particular literary studies, in the system of sciences and their specific and methodological specificity; advanced terminology in the field of general and French literary studies; basic rules for the creation and development of various forms of entrepreneurship, the possibility of practical application of the acquired knowledge about the literary space of the former French colonies in professional activities related to the field of study (K_W01, K_W02, K_W12)
- is able to: use the basic theoretical concepts appropriate for general and French literary studies when planning research, formulate hypotheses, select research methods and tools, and develop and present the results of a query regarding his own work in the field of literary studies, recognize, analyze and interpret various types of cultural products (beliefs, literature), using adequate terminology and appropriate research methods and tools, present their own views, referring to various sources and basic theoretical approaches, and argue the adopted point of view, independently acquire knowledge and develop skills, using various sources (K_U01, K_U02, K_U03 , K_U04, K_U09)
- is ready to critically assess their own knowledge and skills, is able to be open to personal and cultural differences, and ensures compliance with the basic principles of professional ethics and the principles of intellectual property and copyright protection (K_K01, K_K02, K_K06)
Assessment criteria
Assessment method: active participation in classes, 2 lectures / multimedia presentations in each semester, and in the winter semester: term paper (commentary to a text fragment, 2-3 pages in print) + test in the form of a test (30-minute test).
The condition for completing the last cycle (i.e. summer semester) of the diploma seminar is submitting the diploma thesis (BA thesis) in the form of an outline and a multimedia 15-minute presentation on a jointly formulated topic related to the seminar program and passing the BA exam (answer to two questions from the list) 15 issues presented in the middle of the year).
More than three unexcused absences in a semester means deletion from the list.
