Meaning in discursive semantics 3304-1DZ3O-SL-030
The seminar will present a research methodes in discursive semantics and its use in the analyzes of various discourse genres.
Selected problems:
- theories of significance from various research perspectives,
- the concept of discourse, discourse genres and their role in communication,
- interactive, dynamic and dialogical nature of the structure of meaning,
- construction of social meanings,
- lexical and discursive profile,
- the nomination activity,
- construction of the point of view in discourse.
All these issues will be illustrated on specific discourses: press, political, ecological, etc. and on the statements of ordinary users, including in social media.

Assessment criteria
A student may be absent during 2 sessions per term without justification.
After being absent 3 times per term without justification, the student has to present one question extra during the seminar. More absences may lead to fail in the subject.
In the winter semester : presentations -60% of the mark; - 40% activity in discussion.
In the summer semester :
-presenting research results during the seminar,
- submitting fragments of the bachelor's thesis in written form.
Passing the seminar ends with writing a bachelor's thesis.
