History of French literature - XVII and XVIII century 3304-1DZ2O-HLF
The lecture is conducted in French. The lecture presents a panorama of French literature of the 17th and 18th centuries, the most important phenomena, currents, genres and authors, and discusses basic concepts such as Baroque, Classicism, Enlightenment and Sentimentalism. The lectures are arranged chronologically, first French literature of the 17th century is presented, then the 18th century, taking into account the evolution of particular genres and phenomena in both centuries. Some lectures are devoted to one author or one literary trend. The aim of the lecture is to acquaint students with selected, the most important issues of French literature of both centuries, to show the importance of the discussed phenomena and the role of work of the presented writers.

K_W02 The student knows and understands to an advanced degree the terminology of general and French literary studies concerning the discussed phenomena in the 17th and 18th centuries.
K_W03 The student knows and understands to an advanced degree the main processes in French literature of the 17th and 18th centuries.
K_U03 The student is able to independently identify, analyze and interpret seventeenth- and eighteenth-century literary works, using
adequate terminology and appropriate research methods and tools
K_K04 The student is ready to care for the preservation of French cultural heritage.
Assessment criteria
Attendance is compulsory.
Written test
The form and criteria of the item may be changed depending on the current epidemic risk situation. Equivalent credit conditions will be determined in accordance with the guidelines in force at the University of Warsaw, in consultation with the participants.
