French in practice – Applied grammar 3304-1DZ1O-PNGS-037
The class is devoted to working on developing grammatical competence at an advanced level. The purpose of the exercises is to consolidate the knowledge and skills acquired by students in high school. During the year, students will work on the following topics:
- determiners of the noun (genitives and pronouns) - their functions, semantic values and equivalents,
- adjectival and noun indicative pronouns,
- possessive adjective and noun pronouns,
- indefinite pronouns,
- Simple and compound relative pronouns,
- Personal pronouns (proximal and distal complement pronouns, "en" and "y" pronouns, use of two pronouns, place of pronouns in different types of sentences),
- Modes: infinitive, indicatif, subjonctif, conditionnel, participle,
- Functions of subjonctif and conditionnel,
- Participe passé concordance,
- Active and passive forms.

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the module, the student is able to:
- has elementary knowledge of the function of language in social and
intercultural (K_W09);
- has systematized knowledge of morphosyntactic, orthographic,
semantic, phonological and stylistic knowledge of the French language (K_W10);
- knows the basic principles of analysis and interpretation of texts belonging to various
functional styles of French and other Romance languages (K_W11);
- is able to communicate using various channels and techniques
communication with specialists in the field of Romance philology in
Polish and French (K_U07);
- understands the need for continuous professional education and personal development,
evaluates his/her own competence in various fields and improves skills (K_K01);
- knows how to cooperate in a group, solve problems in discussion and initiate solutions appropriate to the situation (K_K02);
- analyze the linguistic context and notice regularities and obsolescence in the use of linguistic forms;
- compare linguistic forms, their way of functioning, differences and similarities in Polish and French
- generalize communicative situations requiring the use of specific forms, e.g., definite, indefinite and particle genitives;
- actively apply the learned grammatical forms;
- transfer the learned forms to new, previously unseen communicative situations.
Assessment criteria
The credit consists of the following: active participation in class, positive results of test papers.
