Selected aspects of specialized language: tourism – traveling around Poland 3304-1DX3O-PNJF-JS32
The aim of the course is to familiarise participants with how to present and talk about Poland's
tourist attractions in French — including cities and provinces, as well as mountains, the sea,
themed trails (e.g. wine trails) and other forms of tourism. The course will draw on available
publications, both printed and online, as well as the participants' own experiences. On this
basis, a tourist brochure in French will be prepared, serving as a guide to a selected region,
city or other aspect of tourism in Poland.
The finished brochures will be posted on the website of the Institute of Romance Studies so
that they can serve as short guides to Poland for French speakers.
Although the classes are not translation exercises, such activities will certainly arise when
working on the description of Polish tourist attractions, e.g. in the context of working on
guidebook texts published in Polish and the challenges of translating specific realities into
French language and culture.
