Students will develop language skills, within the following topics:
-French, the language of diplomacy?
-The careers of diplomats: between individual paths and collective structures
-Diplomatic work: a profession and an art (meet the diplomat)
- Ła cultural diplomacy (OIF - Organisation internationale de la Francophonie)
- The specific nature of international negotiation
- Speaking in public
- Writing formal documents

After one year of classes, the student:
K_U09, K_U10, K_U11, K_W01, K_W07, K_W08, K_W09, K_U03, K_U04, K_U06, K_U07, K_U08, K_U10, K_K01, K_K02, K_K04, K_K05_K_K06
-can understand longer statements on European and world politics;
-understands EU documents without much difficulty;
-reads with understanding reports and articles on problems of modern diplomacy;
-can make contact with an interlocutor representing a different culture; -can understand the language of the European Union; -can use Internet programs; -can read reports and articles on problems of modern diplomacy
-knows how to use online programs designed for EU officials;
-is able to apply for internships offered by the European Commission;
-is sensitive to linguistic and cultural diversity;
-has knowledge of the possibilities of choosing a diplomatic career.
Assessment criteria
Graded credit.
Systematic contribution of the student's own work and active participation in class is required. 2 absences are allowed.
*Students going to the Erasmus program will have an additional group project to complete.
Detailed conditions for passing the course will be presented by the instructor at the first class.
