Linguistics Conversation IIp/III p: Meaning vs. context 3304-1DX2W-KJ-2
The use of language is an intentional communicative action of users, revealing their knowledge of the world, value system, emotions, etc. This problems will be dicussed from the perspective discourse semantics and enunciative theory, the main trends of the French school of discourse analysis. The following topics will be analysed:
context versus communication situation,
- the influence of context on linguistic means and the type of discourse,
- the role of users in constructing meaning,
- the subjectivity markers,
- forms and linguistic markers of dialogicality,
- the role of language in constructing social reality.
All these issues will be illustrated with specific discourses: press, political, ecological, etc., as well as statements by ordinary users, including on social media.

- 2 absences allowed per semester,
- systematic work on selected issues and activity in discussion -50% of the mark;
-presenting research results during classes (a presentation) -50% of the mark.
