- North Africa (Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco)
- West Africa (Senegal, French Sudan [today Mali] and Burkina Faso), Guinea and Ivory Coast, Niger, Mauritania, Dahomei [today Benin]).
- Equatorial Africa (Gabon, Congo, Oubangui-Chari [today Central African Republic] and Chad)

Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student has the following skills and knowledge:
K_W10:
- has cross-sectional knowledge of the history and geography of Francophonie, is able to find the most important places on the world map.
- has systematic knowledge of the most important historical, political, economic and cultural processes shaping the French colonies in their relations with their metropolis.
K_U03 and K_U04:
- can read with understanding and analyze selected texts, historical documents, travel journals, etc.
- can use various sources and ways to search, analyze and select information necessary for active participation in classes.
K_K01, K_K02, K_K04:
- understands the importance of the history of colonization for the development of today's globalized world
- understands the mentality and sensitivity of once colonized nations, the importance of history for the postcolonial world
Assessment criteria
Assessment mode: compulsory attendance, active participation in the class, passing the final test, a written task.
