Program:
- pronunciation of all vowels with special emphasis on oral and nasal vowels not found in Polish
- phonological oppositions in French; comparison with Polish
- French alphabet
- phonetic alphabet (API)
- accent and intonation/melody of sentences (affirmative, questioning, exclamatory)
- relationship between pronunciation and grapheme (accents, elision, e-muet, h-muet, liaison)

- reproducing through imitation communicative situations
- creating/playing short dialogues

Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of the module, the student will have
KNOWLEDGE
- knows the basic terminology of French phonetics and is able to apply it to describe and perform practical tasks.
- has basic knowledge of the relation of the science of sounds (phonology) to the science and skill of writing (orthography)
- has elementary knowledge of the function of language in social and intercultural communication = K_W09
SKILLS
- to recognize types of intonation and repeat the intonation heard
- to use the correct intonation in the right situation (simple communication situations)
- correct pronunciation of all the sounds; + elisions, liaisons
- to read short texts aloud in a communicative manner
SOCIAL COMPETENCES
- understands the need for continuous professional education and personal development, evaluates one's own competence in various fields and improves skills = K_K03
- knows how to cooperate in a group, solve problems in a discussion and initiate solutions appropriate to the situation, is ready to be open to cultural differences = K_02
Upon completion of the course, the student has the following skills and knowledge:
K_W08: knows and understands phonetic issues of French at A2 level.
K_U07: is able to communicate orally and in writing in French at A2 level
K_K01: is able to critically evaluate his/her own knowledge and skills
