Practical German 3302-PN1-Z
The course is general in nature and aims to teach and practise oral and written communication skills within key thematic areas of personal and professional life, including: education, cities, housing conditions, interpersonal relationships, travel, and current social, cultural and political events.
Grammar topics include, amongst others:
- Nomen - Genus, Pluralbildung, Kasus, N-Deklination
- Artikelwörter - bestimmter, unbestimmter Artikel, Nullartikel, Possessivartikel
- Übungen zur Konjugation + Stammformen der unregelmäßigen und Mischverben
- Bildung des Perfekts mit haben oder sein: Verben der Fortbewegung, Verben der Zustandsveränderung und Ereignisverben
- Trennbare / untrennbare Verben
- Transitive und intransitive Verben
- Passiv: Vorgangspassiv, Zustandspassiv
- Modalverben
- Reflexivverben: reflexive/nicht reflexive Verben, echte od. unechte reflexive Verben, teilreflexive Verben, gelegentlich reflexiv gebrauchte Verben (Unterschiede zw. DT. und PL., z. B. enden); reziproke Verben
- Konjunktiv II
- Adjektivdeklination
- Rektion des Verbs (I), Substantivs (I) und Adjektivs (I)
- Partizip I und II als Adjektiv
- Alternativen zum Passiv

Learning outcomes
Graduates are familiar with the basic concepts and principles of intellectual property protection and copyright law (K_W10 / P6S_WK).
Graduates are able to use information technologies in their studies and work whilst adhering to ethical principles, and to apply them in the informed and critical reception of media messages, as well as in the creation of publications (K_U06 / P6S_UK/O).
The graduate knows and understands the language of German-speaking countries and its specific features, and is aware of the interference between their native language and German (K_W03 / P6S_WG)
Graduates are prepared to collaborate and work in a group, taking on various roles within it, and to set priorities for the completion of tasks defined by themselves or others (K_K01/PS6_KK/R).
Assessment criteria
1. To pass the winter semester, students must meet all the requirements set by the main tutor and the supplementary tutors for their group, including in particular
a. passing the written and oral assignments completed in class during the semester (vocabulary and grammar tests after each unit, 1 listening test, 1 speaking test, a prepared oral presentation)
b. passing 2 out of 4 compulsory written assessment tests taken in class, conducted by the lecturers during the semester
c. passing the oral assessment at the end of the semester
d. passing the practical grammar assessment
2. Attendance at classes is compulsory. Students may be absent four times without
notification to the main lecturer, and twice without notification to the supplementary lecturer. Exceeding these limits requires (in justified cases) the completion of additional tasks agreed with the lecturer.
3. Students who did not pass on the first attempt and/or did not complete the required number of assessment tasks are entitled to a resit during the winter semester resit period.
4. Tutors shall inform students of the dates for assessment tasks at least one week in advance, as well as the fact that these tasks contribute to the final mark. Three of these tasks are to be completed with the main tutor, and one with the supplementary tutor.
5. The pass mark for the vocabulary and grammar tests, the LV test and the HV test is set at 65%.
