The aim of the course is to familiarize first-year master’s students with a selected specialized language. Students can choose from specializations covering various topics and fields.

Knowledge: The graduate knows and understands:
- the economic, legal, ethical, and other factors affecting various professional activities related to the field of study, including the principles of intellectual property protection and copyright law, as well as the need to manage intellectual property resources (K_W03)
- the fundamental dilemmas of modern civilization, particularly in the German-speaking world (K_W08)
Skills: The graduate is able to:
- apply acquired language skills in understanding and producing oral and written texts using specialized terminology (K_U03)
- lead a team, collaborate with others in teamwork, and take on a leadership role within teams (K_U06)
- use the German language at the B2+ level
Social competencies: the graduate is ready to:
- respect professional ethics, including principles related to intellectual property protection and copyright, and act to ensure compliance with these principles (K_K03)
- critically evaluate their knowledge and the content they receive, recognizing the importance of knowledge in solving cognitive and practical problems (K_K05)
Assessment criteria
The basis for passing the semester is the fulfillment of all requirements set by the instructor of the given group, including, in particular, the completion of written and oral assignments (e.g., tests, written assignments, oral presentations) carried out in class during the semester. In addition, attendance and active participation in class are required to pass the semester. Passing the course involves demonstrating the skills specific to the subject.
NOTES
1) A doctor’s note does not exempt students from mastering the course material. It only entitles them to an individualized form of assessment.
2) Students who have been granted approval for an individualized study plan are required to contact the course instructor to determine how to fulfill all learning outcomes assigned to the course. If it is not possible to fulfill the aforementioned learning outcomes, the instructor may refuse to grant course credit.
