Selected Issues in the Generative Phonology of Polish 3301-JF2620
This course reviews selected issues in the generative phonology of Polish. The goal is to teach the students to analyse complex morphological structures from the point of view of generative phonology. There is no formal prerequisite other than the knowledge of basic phonological concepts covered in the Phonetics and Phonology course that students take in their first year of studies.Selected issues:1. The structure of the verb: verbalizing suffixes; inflectional endings.2. Iotation .3. Syllable-conditioned processes.4. The abstractness of underlying representations.5. Allomorphy rules.
ADDITIONAL REMARKS:
Attendance is obligatory. Three absences are allowed.
