BA seminar 3300-SEML-SFK-4-L
The aim of the classes is to develop the skills of preparing and writing a scientific text and to prepare students to prepare a bachelor's thesis in the field of comparative literature. The classes discuss selected topics from the list below:
- requirements for diploma/bachelor's theses,
- structure of diploma theses,
- typographic recommendations,
- sources of literature information (databases of scientific publications),
- features of the scientific style,
- methods of citation, preparation of footnotes and bibliography,
- issues of scientific plagiarism - paraphrase, compilation, abuse of the right to quote, plagiarism,
- review of research methods in a given discipline,
- selected aspects of culture and literature of those cultural areas covered by bachelor's theses.

K_W01 The student has the knowledge and understanding of the place and the meaning of humanities, and the multifaceted connections of the studies of literature, and culture with other human sciences.
K_W05 The student has the knowledge and understanding of multifaceted relations of culture studies with literary studies.
K_W13 The student has the knowledge and understanding of the basic concepts and rules of protection of intellectual property and copyright.
K_U01 The student can apply basic theoretical constructs which are characteristic of the studies of literature, and culture.
K_U02 The student can apply basic research skills in accordance with the scientific code of ethics and copyright law; these skills include identifying and analysing the problem, choosing adequate methodology and research tools, analysing and presenting results, all of which pertain to literature and culture studies.
K_U04 The student can conduct an analysis and interpretation of literary and cultural texts from the perspective of comparative studies.
K_U06 The student can prepare a written work with the use of typical methodology of literature, and culture studies.
K_U11 The student can plan and organise their work and take their own initiative.
K_U14 The student can realise the need of constant self-improvement and development.
K_K01 The student is ready to self-evaluate the knowledge and skills critically.
K_K04 The student is ready to respect the professional code of ethics.
