Text Analysis and Interpretation 3300-PNJAat-MSF-3-ZP
The overall aim of the course is to teach students to interpret, analyze and assess literary texts, such as poems, novels, short stories, as well as academic papers, translations and films. Students acquire knowledge about chosen interpretation methods and approaches developed by literary studies. During the course they hone their writing skills, especially their ability to compose analytical essays, polemic essays, reviews. Students compose written assignments in various forms on the basis of the previously analyzed reads and models.

K_U03 The student can recognise, analyse, and interpret various types of English texts, including literary, scholarly, and media texts; can conduct their analysis with specialist terminology, adequate interpretational trends, and methods characteristic of literary studies.
K_U06 The student can prepare a written work in English with the use of typical methodology of English studies.
K_U10 The student can use English, particularly in written communication, at C1 level of CEFR scale.
K_U13 The student can cooperate in a team work to find solutions to research problems.
K_K01 The student is ready to self-evaluate their knowledge, skills, and to evaluate English texts critically.

Participation – 30%
Written assignments prepared during classes – 40%
Home assignments – 30%
Discussion, text analysis, case studies, research method (academic inquiry), brainstorming, group work.
Two unjustified absences are allowed.
